05 — About & founders

The people behind
the partnership.

The Pocket OPS helps firms turn defined accounting, audit, tax and finance assignments into completed, professionally reviewed work. Meet our founders and explore their professional backgrounds.

Based in South Africa. Serving the world.

06 — Before we begin

A few things
worth knowing.

Clear expectations make a better working relationship.

What exactly are we buying?

A completed professional assignment for an agreed fee. We manage the preparation and professional review needed to deliver it, with scope, outputs and acceptance requirements agreed upfront.

Who reviews and signs off the work?

A vetted South African Chartered Accountant with expertise relevant to the assignment. We confirm the work and jurisdiction are a fit before accepting it. For audit work, our sign-off covers our deliverable; your firm retains engagement oversight, final review and responsibility for the audit opinion.

Can you work to our format and methodology?

We agree your required format, methodology, procedures and supporting evidence during scoping. This lets your team assess the proposed handover before committing to the assignment.

How much involvement will you need from us?

We identify the inputs at the start and consolidate questions where possible. Your firm provides missing information and makes decisions that remain with the engagement. We manage preparation, review and corrections within our agreed scope.

Security and confidentiality: how is client information protected?

Secure document sharing. Client documents are shared through a secure portal.

NDA as standard. A confidentiality agreement is signed before any client information is shared.

GDPR and POPIA alignment. We operate in line with the requirements of UK GDPR, EU GDPR and South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), as applicable to the assignment. For UK or EU assignments involving access to personal data from South Africa, we put the required data-processing terms and international-transfer safeguards in place before that access begins.

How do we use AI, and what safeguards apply?

Professional review. AI supports preparation. A qualified Chartered Accountant with relevant expertise checks the supporting evidence, challenges conclusions and resolves review points before signing off the deliverable. Professional judgement and responsibility remain with people.

Governance of AI use. Permitted AI tools, access and processing arrangements are documented for the assignment, including restrictions your firm places on AI use. Our security and confidentiality approach applies to AI-assisted work too.

For audit work, our sign-off covers our deliverable. Your firm retains engagement oversight, final review and responsibility for the audit opinion.

Do you hold professional indemnity insurance?

We hold professional indemnity insurance, subject to policy terms. Each party’s responsibilities and liability limits are set out in our engagement letter.

What if the scope changes or the work needs correction?

We agree acceptance requirements and correction terms upfront. In-scope review points are resolved as part of delivery. Changes to scope, inputs, price or timing are discussed and agreed before additional work begins.

One assignment is a good place to start.
